Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide students with a retrospective overview of the development of the relationship to cultural heritage - specifically in the case of the first semester to movable monuments (written, artistic and arts and crafts). The development will be monitored from the first expressions of respect for the works of the past, through basic theoretical concepts focused on professional care in the 19th and 20th centuries, to the current situation. The course introduces in detail the basic methodological approaches to the care of cultural heritage and the most important literature in the field from the 19th to the 21st century. Furthermore, its aim is to provide students with at least a basic orientation about the principles of current legislative protection of the above-mentioned types of monuments and systemic practice in the Czech Republic and selected European countries. At the same time, some lectures are profiled towards the specifics of the cultural heritage of the northwest Bohemia area.
The graduate has information on the development of cultural heritage care, especially monuments, in Central Europe and European contexts. He also has basic experience in the theoretical and practical application of legislative principles of cultural heritage care in the Czech Republic. This experience also takes into account the specific conditions within the North Bohemian border region. They are also equipped with the basic principles of care for objects of cultural value and archival documents.
