Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with the content and basic historical development of cultural history as a field. Significant personalities and their work from the period of antiquity to the 20th century are introduced. Furthermore, the student of the course is acquainted with the relevant professional literature, especially handbooks and encyclopedias, which will help him in later independent work. Great emphasis is also placed on the students mastering the basics of professional terminology (monument care, cultural history, art). In addition, they will acquire some necessary additional knowledge, e.g. from the field of historical geography, historical geography, etc. The teaching in individual seminars is divided into a theoretical part, focused on a specific topic, and a practical part, in which professional terminology and a selected area of practical skills are discussed.
The graduate demonstrates knowledge of historical development and basic theoretical and methodological problems of cultural history. He/she has mastered basic field terminology, has partial knowledge of iconography, historical topography and geography. He/she has an overview of the basic titles of domestic literature.
