Concepts in contemporary monument care and their specifics (Cultural Monument, National Library, Protection Zone, Urban Conservation Zone, Urban Conservation Area ...) 5. Administrative proceedings - change of the zoning plan in a conservation area 8. Proposal for declaration as a cultural monumet 9. Monument applications 10. Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide sutdents with information about the current practice of state monument care. Emphasis is placed not only on the reflection, evaluation and and temporal classification of individual monuments, but also on the contemporary administrative processes in force in the Czech Republic. Subsequently, students should reflect the interdisciplinary nature of monument conservation and have a general orientation in the individual disciplines and professions with which a conservationist cooperates in the performance of their profession. The course also aims to provide students with guidance on how to search for heritage values in individual immovable and movable objects (monuments) and protected areas. The course will foucus on monument care in the Czech Republic pursuant to the current. Act on State Monumant Care, Act No. 20/1987 Coll. Issues from the wider Central Europe and the rest of the world will be covered selectively. The teaching will be divided into an explanatory theoretical part, which will be complemented by practical examples of real monument cases and processes. Students willbe able to try aout the individual tasks of a specialist state monument care worker according to the current standards. Field investigations within the city of Ústí nad Labem will form an integral part of the course.
The student understands the complex system of state monument care in the Czech Republic. The focus of the course will be on the expert component of monument care, meaning that after graduation they understand the most common processes in the practical activities of a conservationist. The course graduate undestands the work of a territory guarantor, the work of a monument documenter, and how the process of declaring and removing the declaration of cultural monuments in the Czech Republic is carried out. They are thoroughly familiar with the history of monument care in our territory.

A basic orientation in Czech history is a prerequisite for the course.

Assessment methods and criteria

Active participation in the attendance part of the course is required, as well as the creation and presentation of a seminar paper related to the selected topic in the field of monument care. In addition, the sutdent must pass a final test.
