Learning outcomes
The course aims to familiarize students with the essential features of history didactics as a scientific discipline of a borderline nature, its main goals and tasks, content and methodology, and basic areas of research. It also includes an overview of the development of history education in the Czech lands, familiarization with the creation and content of new educational programs and curricula in the Czech Republic and abroad. The student will describe the possibilities of theoretical background for the teaching profession. The student characterizes the development of history education in the European area with an emphasis on its development in the Czech environment. The student actively applies current educational trends, especially The Competence Framework for a Graduate Teacher.
The student will gain knowledge about the nature of history didactics as a scientific discipline and the basic areas of its research. He/she will be able to formulate and explain the main goals and tasks of history education, navigate basic school documents and apply them in a specific situation.
Prerequisites
1. The student simultaneously acquires knowledge in the fields of psychology, pedagogy and general didactics. 2. The student demonstrates and applies the knowledge assumed by completing basic history courses.

The study program is focused on the professional preparation of future history teachers in primary and secondary schools. The subject simultaneously applies various methods and procedures that differentiate both levels. During the semester, students will prepare and present a seminar paper, the topic of which is based on the content of the material being discussed.
