Course content |
The teachin of the course in the part-time form includes the following topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. Theoretical aspects and background of iconography and iconology; 2. Early Christian iconography; Medieval Christian iconography - new themes in medieval iconography 3. Marian iconography, Christological iconography; Saints; Czech pantheon 4. Religious iconography; Lutheran iconography; Greek Catholic and Orthodox iconography 5. Interpretation of selected works of art

Learning outcomes |
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the historical development of the field of Christian iconography and with the fundamental areas of iconographic topics, both theoretical and applied. The emphasis is on the Czech and Central European environment. The topics are chosen so that the knowledge and skills can be actually used in future practice. Practical introduction to a wide range of iconographic handbooks and lexicons is also part of the teaching.
The graduate demonstratec a good orientation in the problems of Christian iconography. (S)he is able to distinguish its individual branches and characterize their basic specifics. The student is able to identify the most important figures and themes and emonstrates knowledge of specialist literature, especially iconographic handbooks and lexicons. |
