Course content
The course is divided into the following parts: I. Theoretical anchoring of places of memory II. Concept of the Great War according to Jay Winter and according to more recent tendencies in Czech historiography III. The issue of ego-sources, especially in connection with correspondence IV. Feldpost V. Analysis of a sample of sources VI. Culture of remembrance VII. Research into local treatment of the Great War (monument, memory institutions, correspondence...)

Learning outcomes
Based on the prepared materials and within individual, pair and group activities, an analysis of basic knowledge on the topic of the Great War and selected source materials (monument, field post, fiction, pop music, etc.) will be carried out, which reconstruct matters of military and civilian life in the period 1914 - 1918, but also remembrance (culture of remembrance, memory/memories) of this period, especially in the territory of Bohemia after 1918 to the present.
The student is familiar with the basic tendencies of historical development of the long 19th century and the short 20th century. The student is able to demonstrate historical research skills. The student is able to respect the principles of professional discussion and actively participate in it.
