Course content
1Development of the discipline, basic terminology. 2 Basic concepts (ways of measuring time, the Julian and Gregorian calendar, the Christian chronology, etc.). 3 Ways of dating in the period of Middle Ages and Modern Times. 4 Traceability historical chronology on palaeography and epigraphy. 5 Practical conversions of dates from lithurgic calendar and of Roman dating to present way of dating.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to introduce students to historical development of chronologic systems within Latin culture area and acquisition of elementary practical skills in conversion of dates from historical to current way of dating.
After introduction to elementary theoretical facts about the discipline students will prove their skills in their practical application while working with Czech resource material from the period ranging from the late Middle Ages to Modern Times. Students will learn conversions of dates from two most frequently used historical chronologic systems.
Prerequisites
1.Introduction to historical studies 2.Knowledge of German and Latin is welcomed, nevertheless it is not necessary precondition

Active attitude to work at seminars, acquisitionof minimally 20 points out of 30 in written test. Demonstration of elementary knowledge from the discipline in the written test.
