Course content
Subject circles of the individual lectures (each circle encompasses 2?3 education units): 1. Roof frames 2. Vaults 3. Ceilings 4. Brick constructions 5. Wooden constructions 6. Foundations The education also employs a special programme on historical vaults, which was developed as an educational material on CDDKD.

Learning outcomes
The subject aims at introducing students to the principles of main supporting constructions of historical buildings and the qualities of construction materials.
The graduates are familiar with mechanical qualities of historical construction materials, the force and deformation pressure of bearing construction supports and the principles of designing and assessing them. They are introduced to the basic typology and terminology of bearing constructions. They can demonstrate their theoretical knowledge in researching and surveying of a particular bearing construction and its presentation in their seminar work.
Prerequisites
1. There is no precondition of graduating from any other course. 2. Students should be able to draw and sketch constructions and be capable of field surveying.
