The aim of the seminar is to support DSP students in the implementation of their dissertation projects, in the preparation and presentation of political studies based on them, and in other professional activities. The course is open to students from all years of study and is tailored to the needs of participants, who share their research experiences, present their progress on their dissertations, and discuss and critically reflect on each other's contributions. The seminars include presentations of participants' own professional outputs (papers, posters, articles) and exchanges of experiences from study internships, trips, conferences, etc. The seminar program is prepared by the course guarantors in consultation with the supervisors. Supervisors are required to attend seminars at which their students give presentations.
The student is able to formulate a professional text with critical commentary at an appropriate scientific level, explain the research methodology, characterize and interpret the sources used. Present and defend the text in a discussion.

Assessment methods and criteria

The condition for passing the exam is active participation in seminars and continuous completion of assigned tasks, and its fundamental condition is the presentation of the preparation of the dissertation. Students present the progress of their dissertation preparation at least once a year, and also present the preparation of pilot studies being prepared for publication. As part of Doctoral Seminar IV, another chapter of the dissertation or a study based on it and ready for publication is submitted, and preliminary research results and the concept of their defense are presented. In the case of an internship, the student is excused from participation, but is not exempt from the obligation to give a presentation. Combined study students complete their certification each year by giving a presentation on their dissertation research at the seminar once a year. In the event of serious reasons (care of children or relatives, health problems, permanent work obligations, stay abroad, etc.), the doctoral seminar requirements may be individually adjusted on the basis of a justified request recommended by the supervisor and approved by the departmental council. The seminar is usually held four times per semester, with a minimum attendance requirement of 80%. Students in the combined form of study participate in the seminar at least once per semester. The exam is registered by the course guarantor based on the recommendation and written consent of the supervisor.
