The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the content and basic historical development of cultural history as a discipline. Important personalities and their work from the ancient period to the 20th century are presented. The course also introduces the student to relevant literature, especially handbooks and encyclopaedias, which will help in later independent work. A great emphasis is also placed on the acquisition of the basics of specialist terminology (conservation, cultural history, art). In addition, they will acquire some necessary additional knowledge, e.g. in the field of historical geography, historical topography, etc. The teaching in the individual seminars is divided into a theoretical part, focusing on a specific topic, and a practical part, in which specialist terminology and the chosen area of practical skills are discussed.
The graduate demonstrates knowledge of the development of the field and the basic theoretical and methodological problems of cultural history. He/she is proficient in the basic terminology of the field, has partial knowledge of iconography, historical topography and geography. He has an overview of the basic titles of domestic literature and is able to work with older literature (from the 18th and 19th centuries). |
