Course content
|
Teaching of the course in full-time form includes the following topics on a weekly basis: 1. Numerals, binding of place names, pronoun hic. 2. gradations of adjectives and adverbs. 3. Pronouns, interrogative, relative, indefinite, pronominal adjectives. 4. Repeat and practice lesson I. 5. Conjunction of the preposition and imperfect of verbs I and IV. conjugation and verb esse, effect sentences. 6. Subordinate clauses with the subjunctive of the preposition and imperfect. 7. Irregular verbs. 8. Repeat and practice lesson II. 9. Indicative perfective, plusquamperfective and futura II - active forms. 10. Supine stem, participle of perfekta. 11. Participium perfekta passive in the binding of the ablative absolute. 12. Repetition and practice lesson III. 13. Indicative of perfekta, plusquamperfekta and futura II - passive forms. 14. Participium futura, gerundive, descriptive conjugation active and patient.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to explain the principles of advanced Latin grammar, to deepen vocabulary knowledge and to practise skills useful in translating Latin sentences. Latin linguistic phenomena are demonstrated primarily on medieval Latin material of Bohemian origin, which allows for a number of interpretive overlaps to be found in the study of the sources. The course aims at acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of Latin word types, an introduction to the perfect and supine stem and an index of their variant forms. Following these linguistic phenomena, the course also focuses on the explanation and practice of advanced Latin syntax.
The student explains the principles of advanced Latin grammar and characterizes the various word types including their morphological and syntactic properties. The student distinguishes and analyses linguistic phenomena occurring in medieval Latin texts of Bohemian origin and uses them in the interpretation of sources. Identifies and describes the perfect and supine stem and their variant forms in specific contexts. Applies expanded vocabulary and grammatical rules in translating Latin sentences, especially in technical or historical texts. In addition, the student interprets and uses advanced syntactic structures and masters their use in independent linguistic analysis and translation.
