1. Building as a historical source. 2. Prehistoric buildings of Europe - basic typology of structures, settlements and building types. 3. Prehistoric architecture of Bohemia and Moravia. 4. Ancient architecture - Greece and Rome - basic features. 5. Early Christian architecture. 6. Pre-Romanesque architecture of the early Middle Ages and Great Moravia. 7. Romanesque architecture of Europe. 8. Romanesque architecture of Bohemia. 9. Gothic architecture of European centres - basic overview and characteristics. 10. The beginnings of Gothic and early Gothic under Premysl Otakar II. 11. The advent of High Gothic under Wenceslas II. 12. High Gothic during the reign of Luxemburg. 13. Late Gothic of the court circuit under the Jagiellonians. 14. Late Gothic of Saxon type in the area of NW Bohemia.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the basic points and features of the development of historical architecture in the time span from prehistoric times to the Gothic period with an emphasis on the historical development of domestic architecture in the general context of European historical and cultural development. The chronological overview of the development of architecture includes the main developmental features, the characteristics of the architecture of a given style and style, an overview of the most important buildings and a brief historical framework influencing the development of architecture in the relevant time period.
The student can identify the characteristic features of historical architectural styles and styles, he/she can date historical architecture, knows the basic development of architecture from prehistoric times to late Gothic.
