Course content
|
The teaching of the course in combined form summarizes these topics by individual teaching blocks: 1. History as a science, philosophy of history, subdivision of history 2. Periodization of history, basics of the historical method, structure and assignment of a seminar paper 3. Bibliography, research, managers, sources and specialist literature, specialist journals, annotation/abstract 4. Databases, electronic information sources, reviews 5. Critique of sources (external and internal) and use of artificial intelligence Within the framework of self-study, learners deal with topics included in the compulsory literature and in particular in the course outline, tasks assigned in the attendance part of the course or in the Moodle learning system, as well as on the basis of consultations with the teacher implemented also through the communication forum in Moodle or other electronic form.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to understand the nature of history, its meaning and role within the system of sciences. To orientate oneself in the internal division of historical sciences and to learn the basics of historical method. To learn how to work with sources and literature, including bibliographies, editions of sources and specialist journals. Gain an overview of the types of sources and learn the skills of external and internal criticism.
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to: -explain the basic concepts and issues of historical knowledge, including discussions of the meaning and goals of history -orient themselves in the system of historical sciences, their position among other scientific disciplines and the internal division of the field -describe and apply the basic principles of historical method, including source criticism (external and internal) -distinguish between different types of historical sources and literature -search, analyse and effectively use specialist literature (including journal studies), including domestic and foreign databases -work with basic bibliographic record-keeping tools and bibliographic managers -compose an annotation, abstract and resume, and review and assign a scholarly work

Assessment methods and criteria

Participation in the teaching, preparation of the assignment of the seminar paper and bibliographic research on the selected and after consultation approved topic (submissions in Moodle). Credit written test.
