Course content
The teaching of the course in combined form summarizes these topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. artistic development of the late 18th and the first half of the 19th century 2. Art movements of the second half of the 19th century 3. Modern movements of the early 20th century 4. Artistic development after the First World War Within the framework of self-study, students deal with the topics included in the compulsory literature and especially in the course outline, tasks assigned in the attendance part of the course or in the Moodle learning system, as well as on the basis of individual consultations with the teacher, also realized through the communication forum in Moodle or other electronic form.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of the development of the visual arts from the beginnings of the Baroque period to the rise of Classicism at the end of the 18th century. Emphasis is placed on the overall historical context, selected artistic personalities, and individual important sites and cultural centers.
The graduate demonstrates an overview knowledge of European and domestic artistic development from the Classical period to the end of the 20th century. The student is able to identify and interpret the most important artistic expressions with an emphasis on Czech artistic personalities and their works. He also has personal knowledge of the NG exhibition at the Trade Fair Palace in Prague.
