Learning outcomes
|
Continuation of the lecture on relations of the Czech society in the 19 and 20 century to the Habsburg-Lorraine family and its selected representatives. The objective of the lectures is to break existing historic stereotypes such as that the Czech nation always suffered under the reign of the Habsburg family. The lectures are meant to explain to students that both parties in this relationship mutually affected each other, influenced each otherś behaviour and decision making. In the second half of the 19 century the Czech society developed rapidly under the reign of the Habsburg.Lorraine family and after that it integrated among modern European nations. The lectures aim to clarify incentives of selected decisions made by the Emperors Franz Joseph I of Austria and Charles I of Austria and to show a change of the relation of the Czech nation to this ruling family - from unconditional loyalty to open enmity.
Getting additional information about development of the Czech society in the second half of the 19 century and in the beginning of the 20 c., new perspectives of formation of Czech-Austrian and Czech-German relations.
