Learning outcomes
Existence of Czechoslovakia is a matter of past time, however there still live eyewitnesses who can tell us what it was like to "live" in Masarykś republic, how Nazi occupation and World War II interfered with their lives or how the communist regime affected them in the 50s of the 20 century. There are still people with troubled destiny who are half forgotten, not fully appreciated or even ignored very often. This course is trying to enable these people to speak about their individual experiences, attitudes and opinions so that younger generation would be reminded of their life experience. Our aim to map "minor history" is important for democratization of history. Destiny of eyewitnesses should never be forgotten and should bring young people to thinking over complicated modern Czech and Slovak history.
Students of history at FF UJEP in Ústí nad Labem have an opportunity to meet various persons related to the history of Czechoslovakia, they can ask about particular historical events, they can confront their knowledge from literature with direct responses and they can think about different attitudes and opinions. Deeper knowledge of modern history and different standpoints are both necessary and useful, particularly for future teachers.
