The seminar aims to systematically develop students? oral communication skills in everyday, academic, and professional contexts in German-speaking environments. Through theater-based teaching methods and action-oriented learning approaches, the course fosters linguistic confidence, spontaneity, and expressiveness. Students learn to assume different communicative roles, structure conversations appropriately for the situation, and act confidently even in challenging communication situations. In addition, the course strengthens students? ability to reflect on communicative processes as well as their capacity for constructive self-assessment and evaluation of others.
Students analyze communicative situations in terms of their linguistic, social, and cultural characteristics and select appropriate communication strategies. They conduct conversations in various contexts with confidence, in a manner tailored to their audience, and appropriate to the situation. They consciously use verbal and nonverbal means of expression and employ their voice, intonation, and body language in a purposeful manner. Students respond flexibly to unexpected turns in conversation and resolve communication problems using appropriate strategies. They argue, moderate discussions, and present complex content in German in a clear and convincing manner. In addition, they critically reflect on their own communication behavior and use feedback to further develop their linguistic and interpersonal skills. Finally, they develop confidence in handling authentic communication situations in their studies, careers, and intercultural contexts.
