Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of important literary works of German literature in the German Classicism, acquired in the course "Literature of the German-Speaking Countries 1", and to develop their ability to analyze and adequately interpret these works. The deepening consists in an informed reading of the literature representing the relevant literary epoch, tendency or an important author, and subsequently in the application of the acquired knowledge of the literary historical context and literary terminology to a specific literary work. Emphasis will be placed on the development of analytical thinking in oral and written expression based on the study of secondary sources.
Students will understand the German Classicism more thoroughly and get an insight into the development of Faust as a literary subject matter.
