Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to help students deal with everyday situations at work, to introduce and practice specific professional vocabulary used in the work environment of international companies in German-speaking countries. During the semester, students will learn about the most common situations when looking for a job, such as finding an advertisement, writing a resume and cover letter, simulating an interview and writing an employment contract, giving notice. They will find out what the small talk topics are at the workplace, practice the situational "in the office" vocabulary, e-mail communication, telephone communication, minutes of meetings, etc. Students will learn how to apply for a job in an international (Czech-German) company.
During the semester, students will learn how to respond in German in situations such as looking for a job, finding an advertisement, writing a resume and cover letter, simulating an interview. They will learn about an employment contract, criteria for resigning, and the cultural specifics of work habits in the Czech-German context.

Credit will be issued for active participation in in-class-discussions, completion of reading assignments and submission of a portfolio with completed tasks assigned during the semester.
