1. Basics of the work of a translator, the most important translation methods. Practical examples. 2. Brief characteristics of the most important features of professional and popular scientific texts. Practical examples. 3. Work with glossaries, printed and electronic dictionaries. Practical training. 4.-14. Translation of selected passages of professional and popular scientific texts, analysis of translated texts.

Learning outcomes
|
In this seminar, students will get acquainted with the basics of translation work and the most important translation methods, and will then apply this knowledge in translating brief passages from professional and popular scientific texts. Attention will be paid to translating texts from German into Czech, while we will analyze and discuss the basic principles of translation work.
