Learning outcomes
The prerequisite for completing the seminar is the official assignment of the bachelor's thesis at the German Department. During the seminar, students will enhance their skills to conduct research and write an academic text. In a group work, they will present and discuss their research topic, goal, methodology, and the planned structure of their bachelor's thesis. The presentation will activate the discussion about the wording of research theses, methods and pitfalls of the thesis composition (e.g. access to sources and their evaluation, the chosen methodology and structure of the work, etc.) and functions as an incentive for the composition of an introduction or a chapter of the thesis. The seminar also offers the opportunity to consult occurring problems while writing the final thesis.
The student - is able to work critically with German-language primary and secondary sources; - is able to identify a problem independently and interpret the text; - improved their ability to argue in discussions; - improved in writing; - understands the principles of academic writing
