Course content
|
The content of the doctoral state examination is based, in particular, on the theme of the student´s doctoral thesis and the individual study plan of the doctoral student. It examines the safe knowledge of German literary history and theory, their terminology and specific methods of these branches of science. It also reflects on wider relations of their themes in the context of the latest trends of research activities carried out all over the world.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this examination is to master the backgrounds to the course of German Literature and to check the knowledge acquired during the doctoral studies, including methodological outcomes of research work.
The student is ready for independent as well as team scientific work in his field. He/she is able to conduct and lead research and convincingly present its results both in the form of scientific publications and in the form of contributions to scientific conferences at home or abroad. He/she has mastered the methods of scientific work and is familiar with the latest findings of his/her field. He/she is in charge of critical thinking and has in mind the rules of scientific ethics.

Prerequisites

The doctoral study is completed by students´ successful passing all attestations (including scientific and research activities), oral state doctoral examination, defence of the dissertation thesis, by means of which the ability to carry out independent activities in the sphere of research in doctoral students/as well as their preparation for the research/, is proved.
