The aim of the course is to enable students to get acquainted with contemporary German culture, not only through the study of relevant literature, but especially through their own experience, for which there are many opportunities in the university town of Ústí nad Labem, located 30 km from the border of the Free State of Saxony. For the course, it is possible to take advantage of the current offers of the Department of German Studies, which include excursions, as well as cultural events offered by institutions such as the Goethe-Institut or the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague.
The student will gain insight into the contemporary culture and cultural scene of the neighbouring state of Germany based on his/her own experience and supplemented by self-study from appropriately selected secondary literature.
