Already Schakespeare placed Bohemia on the shores of the sea in his drama "Winter Tales". The aim of the course will be to trace the development and significance of this literary topos in German-language literature after 1945 in the context of modern political changes and to discuss its transformations using specific literary works as examples.
The student is familiar with the basic texts reflecting the literary tops of Bohemia by the Sea and is able to interpret specific literary texts and this motif both in the cultural and historical context of a given work and in terms of the development of this motif in literature after 1945.
