Topics: - Introduction with overviews of: >> diversity of text types >> types of reading >> strategies of reading - Orientation for independent studies: German texts at different levels on the internet - Reading type "Orientational Reading" - Reading type "Selective Reading" - Reading type "Detailed Reading" - Strategies of understanding the vocabulary (working with the dictionary, recognizing key words, and so on) - Strategies of understanding the text structure (analysis of markers of structure, recognizing units of meaning, and so on) - Strategies to work with the text content (methods to anticipate content, activating previous knowledge, and so on) - Differentiation of information- and opinion based text types

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course consists in the development of the students' reading competence dealing with German texts at the levels B1+ and B2. On the basis of authentic materials, different forms of reading will be trained (orientational, selective and detailed reading). Furthermore, the participants will become familiar with strategies of rendering accessible texts of different types.
