Course content
1. Basic terms ( Sex versus gender, gender identity, gender contract). 2. Gender norms, stereotypes and their consequences, diversity, chances equality of men and women, gender studies 3. Gender in education and upbringing ( The influence of school environment, concepts of subjects, communication of teachers and pupils). 4. Presenation of men and women in school textbooks and its influence on thinking) 5. Language and speech ( Mechanisms in a language and speech on the example of the German language, which support social disbalances) 6. Significance of genderly balanced way of expressing in company practice: translations, interpreting, correspondence, communication with strangers. Non-sexist language ) 7. Gender in Art - female and male role analysis in textbooks, films, advertisements and magazines) 8. Gender in Literature - female and male role analysis in literary texts 9. Media and advertisement ( manipulation through gender stereotypes in the media and advertisemnets, discrimination of women and men caused by stereotypes) 10. The influence of stereotypes on discrimination at work and in family life

Learning outcomes
This course introduces "gender" and its influence on the key factors of life: from division of labor between men and women to the structure of society and its institutions, including the job market. Language as social conduct, plays an important role. The course deals with our chances of making a career in a gender-structured society as well as with coping with gender stereotypes, which limit our life decisions.
Students will become familiar with the importance of gender as a structure-making principle, they will also realize its influence on their lives and society and will acquire the ability to cope with it critically. Students will learn about the principles of gender-balanced diction and will be able to apply them.
