Course content
1. Introduction to the subject - When does the issue become controversial? 2. What issues in today's society can be described as controversial? 3. Controversial issues as a problem -Identification of the problem, the concept of its solution, work with information. 4. What methods and forms of work are effective in solving controversial issues? 5. Model situations - Migration in today's world. 6. Case Studies I - Is there a problem? Global issues. 7. Case studies II - Moral dilemmas and controversial issues. 8. Discussion -Types of discussion and possibilities of argumentation 9. Methods of critical thinking and controversial issues - Analysis of facts and drawing conclusions. 10. Methods of critical thinking and controversial issues - Choices and decisions. 11. Model situations - the use of methods of critical thinking in students of the currently chosen controversial issue. 12. -14. Presentation of student projects.

Learning outcomes
The course is based mainly on the analysis of the term "controversial topics", on an interactive approach to the topics of individual lessons. It will enable students to work with diversity of opinion, form and formulate their own attitudes through model situations. It represents an opportunity for students to develop their critical approach to current problems (their identification, analysis, analysis of their existing solutions), the ability to work with adequate information sources (search for information sources, their use in written analysis and oral presentation). Within the course, students will get acquainted with various forms of discussion, debate, and ways of solving problems.
Ability to identify and analyze controversial social and political issues. - Ability to critically assess their solutions. - Ability to design one´s own solution.

Written analysis of a selected controversial issue, search of literature and other information sources. Oral and PowerPoint presentation of a selected controversial issue.
