Learning outcomes
|
The subject aims at presenting new research topics and goals in contemporary applied ethics. It introduces to influential ethical conceptions, problems and proposed solutions. It combines lectures and seminars, which include individual students' presentations and following discussion with teacher and students. Each student must prepare one presentation on a chosen topic and regularly participate in discussions in the seminar lessons.
Students will understand various moral problems and questions formulated by key ethical thinkers of the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. They will get a complex orientation in contemporary ethical conceptions. Students will understand their potential to be apllied for solving moral dilemas of the contemporary world. They will be able to use and develop them both theoretically and practically. Besides profesional philosophical research, these theories can be used in education, diplomacy, politics, direction of non-profit organisations, and state institutions.

Assessment methods and criteria

Each student prepares a 5 pages long seminar work, which includes their explanation of a chosen topic in related ethical contexts. Each seminar work will be presented in corresponding seminar lesson. The presentation is followed by collective discussion with teacher and students.
