Learning outcomes
The course focuses on introducing the issue of social cohesion. We will learn about the basic models of social cohesion and how this concept is used in Czech and EU public policy. We will discuss the basic aspects that contribute to strengthening social cohesion and the basic conflicts that undermine it. We will examine the various levels of social cohesion ? economic, political, environmental, urban, and psychological. We will link the issue of social cohesion with other related concepts ? social capital, wellbeing, resilience, trust, inclusion, and exclusion. We will examine the limits of social cohesion and ways to critically develop it.
Students will learn: To critically work with concepts discussed during the course To understand the dynamics of contemporary human societies in the context of multiple crises To develop their own understanding of the topics and issues discussed based on professional literature To present, justify, and defend their own professionally grounded positions and opinions

Basic orientation in sociology and political philosophy ? recommended Ability to work with englisch literature

Assessment methods and criteria

During classes, students will report on study texts and, based on their reading, formulate problems and questions related to the topics taught, both orally and in writing. Final exam ? students will explain selected aspects of the problem of social cohesion using a specific example and based on their study of professional literature.
