Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to teach students to perceive the concepts of minority and majority as a category of inequality, power and social control, to provide them with an overview of the possible ways of thinking about the various aspects of these concepts.
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to: - distinguish the statistical and sociological concepts of minority and majority - perceive minority issues in historical and cultural contexts - compare different approaches to minorities - describe the historical development of the minority policy in the Czech Republic - consider the category of nation and nationalism as historical phenomena
Prerequisites
Recommended prerequisities are Sociology I and II.
