The course is focused on gaining an orientation in the topics of contemporary ethics and on getting acquainted with the possibilities of its applicability to specific current societal topics (environmental, social, cultural, medical, etc.). The course acquaints students not only with basic ethical questions and the possibilities of answering them with individual basic ethical theories, but especially with the ethical aspects of some current phenomena and the need to emphasize these aspects. The course will briefly introduce basic ethical theories and solutions to some fundamental ethical issues, but at the same time the course will reveal the ambiguity of such solutions and the ambiguity of the acceptance of any ethical system and any unambiguous answers.
The student will gain an overview of basic ethical theories. They will acquire the conceptual equipment needed to understand ethical issues. Can argue independently. They will acquire the ability to understand texts and to argue and think independently within ethics.
