Rawls: Basic liberties and their priorities 6. R. Nozick: Moral constraints and justice in distribution 7. A. MacIntyre: Justice as virtue 8. M. Walzer: Security and well-being 9. M. Sandel: Procedural republic and unumcumbered self 10. Ch. Taylor: Ethics of autenticity 11. J. Rawls: Justice as fairness: political not metaphysical

Learning outcomes
|
The student will be acquinted with different theories of social justice. The starting point will be Hayek's critique of social justice and his theory of the spontaneous order. The special attention will be devoted to Rawls and his theory of justice. Then will be classified and explained different kind of criticism to Rawls, especially by the communitarian thinkers. Last, but not least will be mentioned Rawls's reply to this criticism.
Student will acquire following competences: - ability to judge critically different theories of social justice - will be able to write an informed essay about the social justice

Assessment methods and criteria

The credit will be given for the oral defence of the paper. The paper must be at least 8 pages long (14400 characters including spaces and footenotes) and its topic should be selected from the the main topics of the course.
