The subject "State and Religion" serves for a comprehensive understanding of the issues indicated by the name. At the same time, it is possible to talk about the theory of the separation of state and church. Separation is an expression for the form of the relationship between the state and the church in many of today's Western states, which is defined against the state church. However, it itself has a long history and continues the history of the sacral kingdom. This implies the specificity and severity of the phenomenon we call separation. Therefore, we follow on the one hand the historical forms of the state church and on the other hand we define the separation. We pay special attention to modern Czech history and the forms in which separation in the Czech Republic manifests itself.
The student will get acquainted with the history of the relationship between the state and religious institutions (especially churches). Understand some concepts of power. He will gain insight into the theory of the separation of state and church. Gain an overview of contemporary concepts of separation.
