1. Introduction to the course - What is democracy? What is civic education? 2. Which values and principles are important for the current citizen of a democratic society and for current democracies; how to mediate them in the teaching of civics and social sciences? 3. Who is part of a democratic society? Who makes it up? 4. Who and how manages a democratic society? 5. What else is and what is no longer democracy? 6. What conditions and situations contribute to the development of a democratic society? 7. What threatens current democracies (internal situation). 8. What threatens current democracies? (international situation). 9. How do contemporary democracies affect the world and how does the world shape the shape of contemporary democracies? 10. How do contemporary democracies affect the world and how does the world shape the shape of contemporary democracies? 11. Democracy in the daily life of the individual - the possibilities of civic education. 12. Democracy in the daily life of the individual - the possibilities of civic education. 13. Democratic ways of resolving conflicts and problems. 14. Conclusion and evaluation of the course.

Learning outcomes
|
The main goal of the course is to enable future teachers to research the issue of civic education in formal and non-formal education in the Czech Republic and to examine the topics of citizenship, citizenship and democracy from three levels: personal, professional, pedagogical.
- knowledge of civic education issues in the Czech Republic - knowledge of basic democratic values and principles - skills to prepare meaningful teaching with topics of civic education - ability to think about the basic themes, principles and values of the citizen of citizenship and democracy from the personal, political and pedagogical level
