Course content
1. Definition of the term political opposition and its development. 2. Opposition in democracy to non-democracy. 3. Types and models of political opposition in democracy (R. Dahl, K. v. Beyme, J. Blondel). 4. Anti-system and extreme political opposition. 5. Radical and national opposition in the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic. 6. The model of "loyal" opposition in the second republic. 7. Ideas of the Czech resistance in the protectorate on the simplification of the post-war party system. 8. Exile "opposition" against President Beneš. 9. Forms of opposition activity in the period of the post-war republic. 10. Political opposition in the period 1948-1990 I. 11. Political opposition in the period 1948-1990 II. 12. Democratic and extremist opposition after 1990 I. 13. Democratic and extremist opposition after 1990 II.

Learning outcomes
The course is devoted to the topic of political opposition in the Czech lands. It concentrates the two main blocks. The first presents a theoretical view of the definition of the concept of political opposition and various typological classifications of the concept of political opposition. The second focuses on the form and transformation of the political opposition in the Czech lands, from the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic, through the second republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the third republic, the communist regime 1948-1990, to the period after 1990.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student will gain the ability to define the concept of political opposition. The student knows different typologies of political opposition. The student is able to describe, analyze and classify the forms of political opposition in the Czech lands in various stages of the development of Czechoslovakia, respectively. Czech Republic.
