Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to clarify the main ideas of Aristotle's Poetics. We will read the book and explain the theory of mimesis in a broader framework of classical Greek philosophy. The course will be primarily focused on reading Poetics, but we will also read classical ancient dramas, which allow us a deeper insight into the studied issues.
Students will gain the ability to work independently with a philosophical text and to orientate in the broader issues. They will learn some Greek terms necessary for a deeper understanding of the studied philosophical problems. They will learn to articulate the key moments of the issue and then communicate them with others.
