Learning outcomes
In the second part of the course focused on auxiliary historical sciences, the teaching will focus on the practical side of these disciplines. It will concern the practical component of selected auxiliary historical sciences. In these areas, the seminar work will develop the theoretically acquired knowledge from the first part of the course and will apply it to the practical level of auxiliary scientific and historiographic research. This will involve acquiring the ability to convert data from the Christian and Roman calendars to the calendar used today (so-called continuous dating), practical work with editions of diplomatic sources, as well as the ability to make content summaries (regests) of these documents. Furthermore, the teaching will focus on working with catalogues of manuscript books, the use of which assumes certain skills and theoretical equipment. Students will also be practically instructed in the processing of epigraphic monuments (historical inscriptions) and working with sources usable for genealogical research.
The student is able to convert data from historical calendars (Roman, Christian) to continuous dating. The student is able to effectively use editions of diplomatic material. He is also able to provide a relevant content summary (abstract) from a given official document. The student is able to work with manuscript catalogues and can use all their data. The student is able to describe historical inscriptions and is able to work with relevant sources related to genealogy.
