Course content
1. Tradition of diplomatic studies, types of official documents, diplomatic terminology. 2. The beginnings of diplomatic documents in Bohemia and the development of the central offices of the Czech state until 1526. 3. Church and city diplomacs until 1526, public notaries, provincial and court registers. 4. Czech royal office in the years 1526-1749, cadastres. 5. City, church and nobility diplomatics in the years 1526-1848

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen basic information about diplomacs as a key auxiliary historical science. The course is divided into blocks that systematically focus on individual areas of research into diplomatic documents.
The student will deepen his knowledge of medieval and modern diplomatic terminology; the development of Czech diplomatic studies; the characteristic features of diplomatic documents of the central offices of the Czech state, public notaries, urban, aristocratic and church provenance and cadastral documents; diplomatic editions and literature. He will learn to identify diplomatic documents; he will be able to describe and analyze them.
Prerequisites
Orientation in the auxiliary sciences of history, Czech history, and the history of administration up to 1848; ability to read Gothic script and Neo-Gothic cursive; mastery of the basics of Latin, ability to translate and understand German texts of a diplomatic nature.
