The aim of the course is to introduce the theory and practice of editing sources that are most often found in archives in the period up to 1848. Editing work is an important part of the archivist's practice. In individual seminars, existing editions will be presented first and then commented on in terms of their significance and the method of making the source accessible. Along with this, the students will be discussed with the individual steps of making the source accessible, their editing options, including the principles associated with it. At the same time, the possibilities of involving an electronic environment and software for making historical sources accessible will also be discussed. The main attention should be paid to the explanation and practice of summarizing the content of medieval and early modern documentary, mandate and letter material (so-called regestation). Another direction of explanation and instructed practice will then lie in the editions of sources of a mass nature, which often require a different approach.
The student can master the individual steps in making a source accessible, its editing, including the principles associated with it. He can effectively use the electronic environment and any tools offered there in this work. The student can create abstracts of submitted documents. He will also master the theoretical and practical training in making sources of mass provenance accessible.
