Learning outcomes
The aim of the Bachelor's Thesis Seminar course is primarily to support, organize, and monitor the range of activities carried out during all stages of thesis preparation. In the introductory part of the course, emphasis is placed primarily on the responsible selection and focus of the bachelor thesis topic in relation to the student's abilities and professional interests, as well as the availability of source material and methods that should be used. From the outset, the seminar leader acts primarily as a consultant. The student is first guided towards the final processing of functional materials for the topic of the bachelor's thesis in the form of a high-quality and well-thought-out assignment and the determination of the necessary research basis (appropriate research questions, determination of the appropriate method, etc.). In a broader context, the student is thus guided towards the general ability to independently formulate a problem, set the objectives of the thesis and appropriate methods for solving them, critically evaluate primary sources and secondary literature, and draw appropriate conclusions.
The student is able to appropriately formulate the assignment contained in the bachelor's thesis they are working on. They are able to correctly select and use relevant literature and sources. They are able to apply the basics of historical criticism in source heuristics and are thus able to proceed appropriately when working on their bachelor's thesis.
