Learning outcomes
|
The course deals with the development of Czech sphragistic and heraldic studies taking into account the wider European context; heraldic and sphragistic terminology; principles of description of seals and coats of arms and sovereign, noble, ecclesiastical urban and communal heraldry and pshragistics; heraldry of the historical lands of the Kingdom of Bohemia, the state symbols of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic in the years 1918-1993, as well as contemporary flags of regions and municipalities and the method of their creation and approval.
The student will acquire knowledge of heraldci and sphragistic terminology, sources and literature; blasoning of emblems and seals, knowledge of basic heraldic figures and tinctures; the beginnings of heraldry; the development of sovereign, noble, ecclesiastical, municipal, guild and state heraldry and pshragistics in the Czech lands. The student will gain the ability to work independently with heraldic and sphragistic artefacts; describe, assess and place these artefacts in a contemporary context.
