Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the complex theoretical and methodological basis of records management, key concepts, basic methods, current problems and issues, and major trends in the field of document management and records management, and by extension, archiving as a whole, taking into account the fact that archival care for records already stored in archives cannot be separated from the management of "live" documents by the creators of the documents. For this reason, the subject covers both the area of archival care of "historical" documents and the sphere of management of currently created documents, records management, and so-called pre-archival care, especially for public originators. Last but not least, the subject will also touch on the area of electronic documents and electronic document management. It will introduce the principles of electronic file management and the integration of electronic documents into everyday office work, and thus also document management. Emphasis will be placed on the basic legal framework and set of legislative requirements relating to document management and file management. Students will be introduced to other important legislative regulations, including European standards (eIDAS, GDPR, and others).
Students who have completed the previous course, Management of Documents I, and are already familiar with the basics of file management and document administration will gain a more detailed overview of electronic document management and electronic file management in this course. Students will be able to perform basic electronic file management tasks and document circulation within an organization in electronic form. They will be able to convert documents, perform electronic shredding procedures, and dispose of electronic documents. They will gain a basic overview of the processes involved in creating and maintaining the authenticity, credibility, and integrity of documents and data.
